Privacy, Security & AI Transparency
How IEE Finder protects privacy, secures data, and uses AI transparently to support qualified evaluators and the families they serve.
Last Updated: 6/18/2026
IEE Finder helps qualified evaluators translate educational evaluations into plain-language summaries for families. This page describes how we protect privacy, secure data, and use AI transparently across the platform. Providers remain responsible for obtaining any required permissions before uploading a report and for reviewing every generated summary before sharing it with a family.
How the tool handles your upload
Encrypted transfer and storage
Uploads are transferred over an encrypted connection and stored encrypted at rest.
Automated PII scan
Before a summary is generated, IEE Finder scans the extracted text for likely identifying information — names of students, family, and school staff; schools and districts; emails, phone numbers, addresses, dates of birth, and ID-style numbers — and surfaces matches for your review. Automated privacy detection is designed to assist providers but should not be relied upon as the sole method of removing personally identifiable information.
Summaries are generated from redacted text
When you continue past the review step, the parent-friendly summary is generated from a redacted version of your document, with detected identifiers replaced by placeholders such as [Student] or [School].
Original file handling
After successful summary generation, the original uploaded file is automatically deleted from private storage. Generated summaries, editable summaries, extracted text, and basic record details remain saved in the provider's account until the provider deletes the report. On the parent-side Reports page only, providers may opt in to a 'Keep File' setting at upload time; when chosen, the original file remains in secure storage until the provider deletes it.
Document lifecycle
1. Upload
You select a PDF or text file (up to 20 MB). The file is transferred over an encrypted connection to private storage scoped to your account.
2. PII scan and review
IEE Finder extracts text from the file and scans it for likely identifying information. If anything is detected, you are shown the matches and can cancel before any summary is generated. Automated detection assists providers but is not a substitute for professional review.
3. Summary generation
If you continue, a redacted version of the text is used to produce a parent-friendly summary. AI-generated summaries are assistive tools and should always be reviewed by the provider before being shared with families.
4. Original file handling
After successful summary generation, the original uploaded file is automatically deleted from private storage. On the parent-side Reports page only, providers may opt in to a 'Keep File' setting at upload time; when chosen, the original file remains in secure storage until the provider deletes it from the Reports page. Generated summaries, editable summaries, extracted text, and basic record details are not auto-deleted — they remain in the provider's account until the provider deletes the report.
5. Summary and redacted text retained until you delete them
We retain a redacted version of the extracted text alongside the generated summary until the provider deletes the summary. Both can be removed at any time from the Reports page.
Default retention
What We Store and What You Can Delete
After your AI summary is successfully generated, the original uploaded report file is automatically deleted from our private storage. Your generated summary, editable summary, extracted report text, and basic record details remain saved in your account so you can view, edit, copy, download, or delete the summary later.
You can permanently delete a saved summary at any time. Deleting a summary removes the generated summary, editable summary, extracted text, and associated record from your account. This action cannot be undone. IEE Finder may retain a limited deletion audit log containing information such as the deletion date, record identifier, and deletion action for security, compliance, fraud prevention, and system integrity purposes.
If summary generation fails, the uploaded file may remain temporarily so you can retry processing or delete the record.

Use of AI
IEE Finder uses AI to help identify likely personally identifying information for provider review and to draft parent-friendly summaries from redacted text. AI assists qualified professionals; it does not replace their professional judgment. AI-generated content may contain errors or omissions and is informational only — it is not legal, medical, psychological, or educational advice, and users remain responsible for final decisions.
Ownership of Your Content
Providers retain ownership of the documents and summaries they upload or create through IEE Finder.
IEE Finder processes uploaded information solely to provide requested services and does not claim ownership of user content.
Our AI Principles
IEE Finder believes AI should:
- Protect student privacy first.
- Support—not replace—the professional judgment of qualified evaluators.
- Be transparent about its capabilities and limitations.
- Never be relied upon as the sole basis for educational or clinical decisions.
- Respect user privacy and maintain strong security practices.
- Never use personally identifiable student information to improve AI systems without appropriate legal authorization and user consent.
